Chess is probably the world's most popular board game. It is played on an 8x8 grid using pieces that can capture each other. The object of the game is to put the opponent's king in Checkmate, i.e. put him in a position so that he cannot avoid capture. Complete rules can be found on Wikipedia's page on chess rules.
